Problem
A dealer curated and resold used cars but had no showroom. Stock changed weekly and prospective buyers could only see inventory through private messages.
What was built
- A public showroom with filtering (make, price, year, transmission), search, and sorting.
- Unit detail pages with specifications and physical-inspection notes.
- A car-offer form from owners, landing as leads in the admin panel.
- An admin panel to manage units (add/edit/publish/mark sold) and the lead list.
What was not built
This section is required: we write what was deliberately not built as clearly as what was built. That is what keeps a project from ballooning.
- No buyer accounts.
- No payments or escrow.
- No in-app chat — all negotiation happens on WhatsApp and in person.
- No real photo uploads — demo photos use clearly-marked placeholders.
Key decision
This project was deliberately not a marketplace. The client is a dealer — there is only one seller in the whole system. Building it as a marketplace would mean adding seller accounts, escrow, and in-app chat: features no one would use, at double the cost. We refused to build what was not needed, and that decision is in the scope document from the start.
Technology
Outcome
The prototype was used to lock scope and pricing before building the production version. It is not a site serving buyers.
